Como
Lake
(8km) has lots to offer: it is famous for its magnificent
villas, botanical gardens
and
romanesque churches. Do not miss
Como,
"Isola
Comacina" (the only island
on
Lake of Como), and only a
short
boat-ride from there to
Villa Balbianello,
Villa Carlotta and its famous gardens,
Lenno,
Menaggio,
Gravedona,
Bellagio,
Varenna to name but a few. A couple
of
hours by car can take you to
St. Moritz, 45 minutes
to the lakeside city of
Lugano in
Switzerland
and approximately
one hour
to Milan. Or, once on the shores of
Lake Como
or
Lugano, you can enjoy the various
boat-trips
either on the
Hydrofoil
("Ali Scafo", in
Italian language), or the more
leisurely
"Battello
-
Ferry". An alternative is the "Traghetto"
(car ferry) which runs between
Menaggio,
Cadennabia,
Bellagio,
Varenna, enabling you to discover some of the
other
shores
of
Como
Lake by
